This course builds practical capability across the full project life cycle, from needs assessment, stakeholder analysis, work breakdown structures, scheduling, finance planning, internal controls, evaluation, risk response, supply-chain coordination, human resources, and end-of-project transition. It is especially relevant for Islamic finance initiatives, waqf and zakat-funded programmes, community development, education, health, infrastructure, environmental projects, and faith-aligned NGOs or social enterprises. Learners develop the language and tools to balance scope, time, cost, quality, resources, and stakeholder expectations while integrating Shariah perspectives and ethical governance into day-to-day project decisions.

Islamic Project Management connects practical competence with the pursuit of ʿilm nāfiʿ: knowledge that helps people plan responsibly, serve communities, and reduce harm. Projects concerned with water, sanitation, education, livelihoods, environmental care, or institutional strengthening can support the higher purposes often discussed under the maqāsid al-Sharīʿah, including the protection of faith, life, intellect, family, and wealth. This course approaches those aims through careful needs assessment, transparent stakeholder engagement, prudent resource use, risk awareness, accountability, and dignified closure. It encourages learners to see management not merely as administration, but as a trust: organising people, funds, time, and materials with sincerity, justice, and care for both the Creator’s commands and the well-being of creation.
