Why this course matters
A professional perspective
Excellent service to pilgrims is both an operational discipline and an act of care. This course builds capability in pilgrim-centric service: the foundations of Islamic hospitality and ethics; pilgrim segments and expectations; service-quality frameworks such as SERVQUAL; service design and journey mapping; managing the emotional and spiritual experience; faith-aligned, digital and influencer marketing; branding of pilgrimage services; measuring satisfaction and loyalty; complaint handling and service recovery; CRM and pilgrim-data management; inclusive service for elderly and special-needs pilgrims; and intercultural, multilingual delivery. Taught with an applied project, it is valuable for service and hospitality leaders, operations and CRM teams, marketers, and organisations across the pilgrimage sector seeking to serve guests of the Most Merciful with measurable excellence and genuine iḥsān.
Through the lens of faith
Rooted in the ethic of iḥsān and the honour of hosting the guests of Allah, this course approaches service as ʿilm nāfiʿ and worship in action. Studying hospitality, experience, inclusion and care alongside their Islamic foundations, learners reflect on adab, patience, and the dignity owed to every pilgrim — the elderly, the vulnerable, the traveller far from home. The themes connect to the maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah: protecting life and dignity, easing hardship, and turning ordinary service into an act of devotion. Excellence here is not only satisfaction scores but sincerity — to relieve the burden of a fellow believer on the most important journey of their life, and to meet them with the gentleness the Prophet ﷺ taught.
